I’m visiting Seattle from my home in Shanghai. I’ll be here for one month to visit my daughter. She is our only child, and she moved to Seattle six years ago for school. She is getting her Doctorate in Psychiatry at the UW. She will be giving her dissertation soon. I’m very proud of my daughter. I wasn’t a good student, but she is a good student. But, I miss her when I’m at home, although not as much as her mother. I visit every year, but her mother visits every two or three months. And, it’s a long flight.
I was born in China, but then my family left for Taiwan when the Communists took over. I lived in Taiwan for 30 years, and then moved back to China when things started to open up. I started working as a technician in a tire factory, but then worked my way up. I set up a whole new factory and was the General Manager. It was the biggest tire factory in China, at the time.
